Instructions:
Step 1
Gather your supplies
Tip your flatback crystals into magic sorting tray so they are easily accessible. Make sure your wax picker pencil is sharp; this will make it easier to pick up your crystals. Prepare your E6000 glue by squeezing it into your syringe.
Step 2
Map out your flatbacks
Before we begin to glue our crystals it’s important to map them out. It may seem easy but the best way to achieve a smooth application is to plan your placement.
Start with your largest crystals in the centre of the bow, then fan them out using the smaller crystals towards the outer edges of the bow.
Step 3
Placing your flatbacks
Once you have mapped out your flatbacks, you may now begin applying your E6000 glue. Make sure not to apply too much as they can make your embellishment appear messy.
It’s important to use the correct amount of glue, not too much, not too little. Being able to judge this will become easier with practice.
For this bow I used Siam in SS16, SS12, SS9 and SS5. I started with the largest flat backs in the centre, then gradually used the smaller flatbacks as I got closer to the edges of the bow.
Step 4
Inspect and adjust
Once you have placed all your Flat Backs, it’s a good idea to make sure to inspect your work, this way you’re able to adjust any crystals before the glue sets.
Step 5
Leave to dry
Now that your crystals are placed correctly, leave your embellishment to dry for at least 12 hours.
