How to make a Halloween skull bracelet

Step 1: Gather your supplies

Tip your beads into the sorting trays so they are easy to reach. Measure how long you want the bracelet to be and add a little extra cord for tying off (better too much than too little).

Step 2: Start the pattern

The design is simple. Thread on a jet bicone, then a silver shade bicone, and keep repeating that pattern along the cord.

Step 3: Add the skulls

Once you have beaded about a third of the way along, thread on one skull bead. Continue the bicone pattern until you reach roughly two thirds, then add the second skull bead. Carry on with the jet and silver shade bicones until the bracelet reaches your desired length.

Step 4: Finish the bracelet

Tie the two ends together with a double knot, pulling it firm but still stretchy, then trim the excess cord. For extra security, add a tiny dab of jewellery glue to the knot and tuck it inside the nearest bead.

Frequently asked questions

How do you make a skull bracelet?

Thread crystal beads onto stretch cord in a repeating pattern, then add a couple of skull beads as focal points, spaced evenly around the bracelet. Once it reaches the length you want, tie the cord off with a double knot and trim the ends. No clasp is needed.

What beads do you need for a Halloween bracelet?

Dark, glamorous beads suit Halloween well: jet black and smoky silver bicones with a skull bead or two for the theme. We used Serinity 5328 bicones in jet and silver shade, with Serinity 5750 skull beads in metallic light gold for a touch of edge.

How do you make a stretch bracelet?

Use elastic beading cord, which lets the bracelet slip over the hand without a clasp. Thread your beads, leaving a little extra cord at each end, then tie the ends together. Stretch cord is the easiest way to make a bracelet, so it is ideal for beginners.

How do you tie off elastic cord so it does not come undone?

Tie a double or surgeon's knot, pulling it firm but not so tight that the bracelet cannot stretch. A tiny dab of jewellery glue on the knot adds security, and you can hide the knot by sliding it inside the hole of the nearest bead.

What size should I make it?

Measure around your wrist and add roughly 2cm, since the bracelet needs to stretch over your hand. Lay the beads out to that length before knotting so you can check the fit and adjust the bead count if needed.

Can I change the colours?

Yes. Jet and silver give a classic Halloween look, but purple, orange or blood red work beautifully too. We used our own Austrian-made Serinity beads here; you can also use premium Swarovski, Czech-made Preciosa or budget Estella in your chosen shades.

Make it your own

Swap the palette for purple, orange or blood red, or add more skulls for extra edge. To build a Halloween set, see our gothic skull earrings and blood drip choker projects, or explore the full Craft Studio.
