How to make a pendant necklace and earring set
Step 1: Attach the pendant to the bail
Gather your materials. Open the stirrup bail with round nose pliers by sliding the closed tips inside and gently opening them, just wide enough to fit over the pendant's hole. Fit the bail over the thread hole of one Ruby Baroque pendant, then close it carefully with chain nose pliers. Do not close it too hard, so you avoid marking the metal.
Step 2: Attach the chain
Thread the trace chain through the loop at the top of the bail to complete the necklace. If the end of the chain is a little wide for the loop, ease the bail loop open slightly with your chain nose pliers.
Step 3: Make the matching earrings
Take the remaining two pendants. Open the loop at the bottom of each ear wire with round nose pliers, just wide enough for the pendant hole. Always push the loops open sideways, never pull them apart, as pulling distorts the shape. Attach a pendant to each and close the loops shut.

What is a stirrup bail and how do you use it?
A stirrup bail is a finding that grips a pendant through its drilled hole. Open it gently with round nose pliers, just wide enough to fit over the hole, slide it on, then close it carefully with chain nose pliers. Do not over-squeeze, or you may leave marks on the metal.
How do you open a jump ring or loop without breaking it?
Always push the loop open sideways, twisting one side towards you and the other away, rather than pulling the ends apart. Pulling distorts the round shape and weakens the metal. Twist it back the same way to close, until the ends meet neatly.
How do you make a matching necklace and earring set?
Use the same pendant style across all three pieces. Put one pendant on a bail and chain for the necklace, then attach a pendant to each ear wire's loop for the earrings. Keeping the colour, cut and finish consistent is what makes the set look coordinated.
Do I need special tools?
