What Are Estella Flatback Crystals?

Precision laser-cut from genuine glass crystal with a flat back, Estella stones are available in hotfix and non-hotfix formats. Unlike acrylic rhinestones, which are moulded rather than cut, the laser-cutting process gives them sharper facets, better light refraction and a cleaner, more consistent finish. Lead-free and EU REACH-compliant, they are safe for professional production, consumer use and teaching environments.

Hotfix and Non-Hotfix Options

The Estella range includes two application types, each suited to different materials and techniques.

• Hotfix flatbacks — pre-coated with heat-activated adhesive for quick, secure application to fabrics, garments and textiles using a hotfix applicator wand, heat press or iron (steam off). Ideal for dancewear, costumes and fashion garments. Also known as iron-on crystals.
• Non-hotfix flatbacks — no pre-applied adhesive; bonded using a one- or two-component jewellery glue or specialist adhesive such as E6000 or Gem-Tac. Suitable for glass, metal, plastic, leather and fabric, making them the most versatile option for nail art, accessories and mixed-media projects.

Estella flatback crystals use the SS (Stone Size) sizing system, covering SS3 (approximately 1.3mm) through to SS40 (approximately 8.5mm), from ultra-fine micro crystals for nail art through to larger stones for bold statement embellishment.
