Preciosa Crystals Shoes Rhinestone Embellishment Project
Preciosa Crystals can add a bold bling statement to your street style by using rhinestone embellishment on your favourite accessories. We have used pumps for this example however this technique will also work on trainers, court shoes, boots, high heels, sneakers and more! With a dab of glue and few sparkling Preciosa crystals in the right places, even your most comfortable footwear can become the ultimate status symbol for your Instagram feed!

Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the shoes for embellishment
Ensure that the shoes are completely clean and ready for gluing. If the fabric of the shoe is in any way fluffy, we recommend trying to cut, shave or scrape the fibres away until you reach the main weave of the fabric. This will help to give the glue a texture to securely grip to and will guard against the fabric deteriorating underneath the glue over time, leading to potential crystal loss.
Step 2
Set up the glue applicator with resin glue
Fill the Glue Syringe with enough E6000 Plus Resin Glue for your project, be careful to not take more glue than you need. The easiest way to do this is to remove the needle tip section and place the open end of the syringe inside the nozzle of the E6000 Plus glue tube, then pull the plunger on the syringe while gently squeezing the tube of glue. This will transfer the glue from the tube to the syringe with minimal mess and exposure to the air.
Step 3
Guard against air bubbles in the resin glue
Once the glue is in the syringe you are likely to have a small air bubble in with the glue, hold the syringe up so that the bubble floats to the top and gently push on the stopper, this will push the air bubble out so that there is only glue left inside. You can then twist on the needle tip, completing the syringe.
Step 4
Apply the glue in small sections
Use the loaded syringe to squeeze out a small amount of glue onto the shoe and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes to get tacky. Be careful to not apply too much, otherwise you will risk the glue running in unwanted directions across the gently curving surface that can be found on most shoes.
Step 5
Begin placing the Preciosa crystals in the embellishment style of your choice
Use the Double Ended Wax Picker Pen to gently place the Vitrail Light Preciosa rhinestones onto the glue. When filling a space with rhinestones we recommend starting with the outlines first and working your way into the centre using concentric lines similar to circles in a tree trunk. This is because the edges are the first thing people notice if they are messy.
SPECIAL NOTE: be aware of bending
On items like shoes where the surface is expected to flex with use, it’s good to be aware of where the creases are likely to form. This is so that you can allow small gaps between the crystals in those areas which will allow for the free movement of the fabric. There’s nothing more tragic than an item that is rendered unwearable, simply because adding crystals has made it completely solid because there are no gaps!
STEP 6
Allow the resin glue to fully dry
Tidy up any messy glue edges and let it dry overnight.
