Preciosa Seed Beads & Serinity Beads Crocus Bracelet Project

Instructions

STEP 1

Prepare your thread.

Unless you have specially designed beading thread, you will need to condition it with a layer of special wax. This will strengthen the thread and make it easier to work with. Do this by pressing the thread into the wax of the Bead Buddy and pull it through several times until the thread is evenly coated. Once this is done, you can thread your needle and prepare to start beading.

STEP 2

Tie the thread to a jump ring.

Loop the thread through one jump ring and tie it off securely, this is going to act as a stopper and will prevent the beads from sliding off and will form the connector at one end of the bracelet. The jump ring should be on the end of a long line of thread with your needle at the other end.

Step 3

Thread your first line of beads.

The design begins with one central line of beads containing the following pattern (see below). When you reach the other end, loop your thread through another jump ring. You should end up with a line containing all 14 Amethyst Round beads, with 3 light topaz Seed beads in between each and a jump ring at either end.

 

Step 4

Add the second row of Light Topaz Seed Beads.

Now thread back up through the Amethyst Round beads, adding in 3 Seed Beads every time you cross a gap. You should end up with two rows on Light Topaz Seed Beads. Loop the thread through the jump ring when you come out the other end.  

 

Step 5

Add a row that curves around the Amethyst beads.

Have the bracelet lying flat on a smooth surface and thread 5 seed beads onto your needle. Whip your thread around the side of the amethyst Round bead and pass your needle through one of the rows of light topaz Seed beads. Bring your thread back out when you each the next Amethyst bead and add the next 5 Preciosa seed beads. Repeat this process until you reach the other end and loop the thread through the jump ring to secure this stage of beading.

Tip:

Be sure to always thread through the same column of light topaz beads to prevent the bracelet twisting. 

 

Step 6

Do the same to the other side.

Repeat Step 5 on the other side so that the Amethyst Round beads are fully framed by Light Topaz Preciosa seed beads. 

 

Step 7

Add Light Topaz Round Beads.

Choose one side of the bracelet and add a row of Light Topaz Round Beads that nestle into the gaps, secure them in place by passing your needle through the 3 seed beads that sit at top of the curve of the previous row. 

 

Step 8

Do the same to the other side.

Repeat Step 7 on the other side so that both sides are the same.

 

Step 9

Thread 5 seed beads onto your needle, choose one side of the bracelet repeat the process described in step 5 to surround all the Light Topaz Round Beads running down one side with Seed Beads. Repeat this process until you reach the other end and loop the thread through the jump ring to secure this stage of beading.

 

Step 10

Do the same to the other side.

Repeat Step 9 on the other side so that both sides are the same.

 

Step 11

Add the Light Green Seed Beads.

Now seal the edges of the bracelet by adding a row of Light Green Seed Beads that fill in the gaps between the curving outer rows of Light Topaz Seed Beads. Secure the Light Green Beads in place by passing your needle through the 3 seed beads that sit at top of the curve of the previous row. Do this on both sides and tie off your thread.

 

Step 12

Connect the Trigger Clasp.

To complete the bracelet attach the Trigger Clasp using one of the jump rings. Open the jump ring by using two pliers and twisting the jump ring in opposite directions, this will safely open the jump ring.

 

Using the open jump ring, attach the clasp to the bracelet, closing the jump ring using the two pliers to pull the ends of the jump ring together.
