Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your workspace
Before you begin your project, ensure you have a nice clean workspace where you have a large flat surface with plenty of light so you can leave the rhinestone embellishment to dry without it being disturbed.
Step 2
Prepare the surface
Ensure that the item is free of dust and grease and gently buff the surface with sandpaper if it is shiny, this will provide a rough ‘key’ texture and guarantee a strong bond with the glue and crystals.
Step 3
Plan your design
Before diving into the application process, it's essential to plan your design. For this shape we chose concentric lines that flow along the outline. However, to add further definition, care can be taken to define regions on the shape by deciding how far you take the concentric lines in any one direction. In the image below you can see how the focus is mainly on the flow of the spine with separate defined sections for the different limbs.
Step 4
Load the glue syringe
Fill the syringe part way with E6000 Plus glue and cover a small section of the cat with a thin layer of glue. Allow a few minutes for the glue to become tacky before placing your crystals. This resin glue will remain workable for approximately 45 minutes and will require several hours to fully dry.
Step 5
Begin your embellishment
Use the Magic Sorting Tray for storing the crystals and use the Wax Picker Pen to pick up and place your crystals strategically onto the desk tidy in a way that suits your design. When filling a shape, it is best to start with the outline and work your way in. Try to leave no spaces between your crystals for the best finish.
Step 7
Let it dry
After all the crystals are in place, set aside the item, lying it down as flat as possible to allow the adhesive to dry completely with minimal crystal slippage. Then you are free to enjoy your new custom creation!
