Bedazzling a water bottle is one of the easiest ways to turn a plain bottle into something that catches the light from every angle, and it is a great first crystal project. This step-by-step guide shows you how to do it with flatback rhinestones, the right glue and a couple of simple tools. For this build we used the Serinity Neptune Mix, a ready-made blend of blues, but you can use any colour mix or brand you like.
Below you will find everything you need, with quantities, then clear instructions from choosing your design to the final cure.

How to bedazzle a water bottle
Step 1: Choose your design
Decide on your design before you start, whether it is an intricate pattern, a single feature panel or full coverage. Planning ahead keeps the application tidy. It helps to browse rhinestone embellishment techniques first for ideas and tips.
Step 2: Sort your rhinestones
Tip your crystals into the Magic Sorting Tray. If your design uses more than one size or colour, keep each in its own tray so the right crystal is always easy to find. The tray's textured surface flips the crystals face-up with a gentle shake, which saves a lot of time.
Step 3: Prepare the surface
Make sure the bottle is clean, dry and free of grease. A clean surface gives the best adhesion. On very smooth or coated bottles, a light wipe with rubbing alcohol helps the glue grip.
Step 4: Apply the glue
Using E6000 Plus glue, cover a small section of the bottle with a very thin layer. You have roughly an hour of working time before it starts to set. The glue has a honey-like consistency and it is easy to use too much, so apply sparingly, as any excess that squeezes up around a crystal will dull its sparkle by covering the facets.
Step 5: Place the crystals
Use the Wax Crystal Picker Tool to lift each rhinestone and press it gently into the glue. Work section by section, following your design, until the bottle is complete. Avoid the area your lips touch when drinking.
Step 6: Let it cure
Leave the bottle to cure fully before handling or washing it. Allow 24 hours for a strong, lasting bond.

Frequently asked questions
How many rhinestones do I need for a water bottle?
It depends on coverage. A single mix pack is plenty for a feature panel or scattered design, while full coverage of a large bottle needs more. Use our Crystal Calculator to estimate by surface area before you buy.
What glue works best on a water bottle?
A flexible, industrial-strength adhesive such as E6000 Plus. It bonds to plastic, glass and stainless steel and flexes with the bottle. Make sure the surface is clean and dry first, and on glossy bottles wipe with rubbing alcohol for a better grip.
Can I bedazzle a stainless steel or metal bottle?
Yes. The method is the same. Degrease the surface thoroughly first, as metal bottles often have a slick coating that glue struggles to grip until it is cleaned.
Is a bedazzled bottle dishwasher safe?
No. Dishwasher heat and harsh detergents can weaken the adhesive and dull the crystals over time. Hand wash gently and avoid soaking the crystal area.
Which crystals should I use?
Any flatback rhinestone works. We used the Serinity Neptune Mix here, but you can step up to premium Swarovski flatbacks or down to budget-friendly Estella, depending on your budget and finish.
