Comic Relief Bling With Preciosa Flatback Crystals

Comic Relief holds a special place in many hearts across the UK. Founded in 1985 by scriptwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny Henry responding to famine in Ethiopia, it has now grown into one of the major charity events of the British calendar. It encourages donations through family friendly comedy and is also known on many playgrounds as “Red Nose Day”. Every year there is a wave of merchandise with proceeds going towards the cause and this is where we come in, we made our donations and wish to spread the word further with the help of Preciosa Flatback Crystals!

Comic Relief Embellishment

The bold edges around the cartoon characters on this delightful mug made it the perfect base for a bit of embellishment! We chose Preciosa Crystals in Citrine because it matched the bright happy yellow perfectly, so we grabbed our glue and got blinging!

When filling unusual spaces with crystals, it is best to start with the outlines first and then work your way in (or out) from there. We used mostly SS16 size crystals and then dropped down to SS8 to fill the last few gaps where SS16 was too big to fit. The SS sizes used for Flatback Crystals can be a bit confusing at first, but it’s made simple with this handy size chart. As long as you know how many millimetres across you want your crystal to be, you can figure out which SS size is right for you.
