Now that the schools are back and everyone is settling into their autumn routines, many of us want to cling to the glistening sunshine of summer in any way that we can. We at Bluestreak Crystals believe you can bring the sunshine with you by covering your essential items with rhinestones! Have a go at embellishing your name onto your favourite water bottle using colours from Serinity Flatback Crystals.
You will need:
Your favourite water Bottle
Serinity Crystals for dazzling shine! We chose SS9 Golden Topaz.
Double Ended Wax Picker Pen which will help you pick up and place the crystals.
Magic Sorting Tray that will keep your crystals tidy while loose.
CG500 Resin Glue to stick the crystals to your bottle.
White graphite paper that can be found in any sewing shop.
You will be impressed at how easy rhinestone embellishment is when you know a few simple tricks, you will learn a few by following these easy steps!
Type your chosen word in your preferred font and text size and print it out on a sheet of normal paper.
Take your graphite paper and cut out a section that’s big enough to cover the area you wish you embellish; the shiny side does the transferring and therefore will face down onto the bottle.
Cut out the printed text which will then lie, face up, on top of the transfer paper.
Tape the two layers onto the bottle in the location you want you design to go and carefully trace over the text using a pen or pencil; all that matters is pressure.
Peal the layers of paper off the bottle to reveal your guidelines.
Mix the CG500 resin Glue in a 50:50 ratio.
Put the mixed resin glue in a small piping bag so you can get a thin, accurate line of glue.
Using the piping bag, gently write over your guidelines. You only need a tiny amount of glue to stick the crystals.
Let the resin glue sit for 10 minutes to get tacky.
Can crystals stuck on with CG500 survive frequent washing?
We put the CG500 Resin Glue though a rigorous wash test where we scrubbed it with a bristle brush and washing up liquid. Then we rubbed the soap away with a sponge and running water and dabbed it dry with tissue, scratching at the crystals while doing so as part of our testing procedure. After this stress test we are happy to say that all the Serinity Rhinestones stayed on and were unscratched!
