How To Create Jewellery With Preciosa Seed Beads from Bluestreak Crystals

The trends from the 90's are so in right now! One trend in particular, is handmade jewellery such as rings, bracelets and chokers made with Preciosa Seed beads. A huge part of the appeal of this craft is that the style of the jewellery you make can be as easy or intricate as you like and the finished item will still impress and trend on social media.

We have produced several short tutorials that cover the basics of seed bead jewellery, which will offer a perfect introduction to this satisfyingly therapeutic craft. Armed with this knowledge and the many colourful options available in our Preciosa Seed Beads Range, there has never been a better time to join in the fun and get beading!

Our project tutorials come with several levels of difficulty and in this short guide we outline our beginner’s beaded bracelet project.

Before You Begin

Before you begin you will need a collection of Preciosa seed beads that suit your colour scheme, you can use just one colour, but the most popular looks use combinations of four to ten colours. You will also need a thread of your choice; we have found that slightly stretchy is best for bracelets and using an elasticated cord means you don’t need a separate needle because the beads can slip straight on the end of the cord easily. As a final flourish we are adding a delicate metal charm to our bracelet, but you could add as many as you like!

Follow These Easy Steps

Now that you have everything you need, follow these 10 easy steps...

  1. Measure the cord loosely around your wrist, allowing extra for tying knots and cut it with scissors.
  2. Tie a stopper knot at one end so the beads won't slip off as you thread them on.
  3. Thread your beads onto the other end, if you are using Elasticity Cord by Beadalon you won’t need a needle!
  4. Build your colour scheme using Preciosa Ornela Beads, you can mix different sizes and colours in any combination you like.
  5. When halfway add your chosen Jewellery Charm.
  6. Add the rest of your beads until it's long enough to go all the way around your wrist.
  7. Check to make sure the bracelet is long enough to fit with no gaps between the beads.
  8. Push the beads away from your stopper knot and tie the two ends tightly together using a fresh double knot.
  9. Cut off any excess cord with a pair of scissors and for extra strength you can seal the knot with glue or clear nail polish.
  10. Congratulations! You can now enjoy your new Seed Bead Bracelet!
